Ernest Hemingway's favourite room on the first floor has been preserved exactly as it was during his visits with the same furniture and decor typical of the years after the second world war when his time in Italy was usually spent between Venice and Cortina.
At the end of the second world war, the old Hostelry, a stop for refreshment for coaches transporting the post and early travellers became the "Bar" del Posta. It was at this time that the American writer Ernest Hemingway was a regular guest at the “Posta”, where he had his first floor room, while visiting Italy. The enormous success of the “Posta” is indissolubly linked to this legendary “Bar” which was launched by Renato Haussmann and whose footsteps were followed by his pupil Antonio Di Franco, still today the most famous barman in Cortina. The elegant and slightly nostalic atmosphere s reminiscent of Harry's Bar in Venice, is not to be missed and is still the place for celebrities and fashionistas, actors, writers and politicians when visiting Cortina. After a naperitif there, lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants, the elegant Dolomieu, the cosy, intimate Ristorantino or the famoso Grill-Bar cwith its sunny, sheltered terrace as well as the fine dishes perpared by the Chef Gianfranco Faustini, resident chef for the last twenty years at the Posta.
